The Super Otter utilizes a Hartzell HC-B4TN-5NL/LT10890N Four-blade, reversible, full-feathering propeller. The diameter is 109.5” which, at the takeoff rpm of 1591 rpm, produces a mach tip speed of only .69 mach. This is the reason for the Garrett Super Otter's low flyover noise level of 81 dB(A) according to FAR 36, Appendix G.
The propeller was originally designed for the agricultural market for improving the takeoff and climb performance of turbine powered crop dusters. This propeller was perfectly suited to meet the needs of the Otter in the harsh bush environment.
